Deliveroo commission · UK · checked October 2026

Deliveroo fees for restaurants in the UK (2026): commission, VAT and calculator.

Deliveroo doesn't publish one UK commission rate. Each restaurant's rate is set in its own agreement, as a percentage of the order value including VAT, plus 20% VAT. The only rate in Deliveroo's partner terms is 35% + VAT, for Marketplace+ restaurants when Deliveroo's riders are switched on. With VAT, that's 42% of the order. Checked on 11 October 2026 against Deliveroo's partner terms, policies and FAQs; your agreement and weekly statement are the final word.

The rates

Deliveroo's commission in the UK.

Your own agreement with Deliveroo sets most of your rates. Here is what it does publish in the UK.

On top of the commission

  • Card processing

No separate card fee. Deliveroo's terms pay you the order value minus its fee, the VAT on that fee, and any refunds.

  • VAT on the commission

Yes. Deliveroo's terms charge its fee plus VAT at the prevailing rate, which is 20% in the UK. A VAT-registered restaurant can usually reclaim it.

  • Joining fee

Once, and the amount depends on whether you use your own device or lease a Deliveroo device. Deliveroo doesn't publish it in its terms or FAQs, so ask for it in writing before you sign.

  • Tablet

A tablet with an integrated printer. You own the equipment once the full joining fee is paid; Deliveroo may charge a reasonable fee to repair or replace a leased device.

  • Photography

    £83 (15 photos), £126 (25), £221 (50), £404 (100) or £497 (125), including taxes. A shoot cancelled at short notice costs 50–100% of the fee.

  • Offers

You fund them, and the commission is charged on the discounted price.

  • Ads (Marketer)

Charged per menu view, with manual or automatic bidding within your budget. Fees exclude VAT and come off your payout; minimum bids can change on 15 days' notice.

  • Refunds

Refunds you're responsible for come off your payout; dispute them in Hub within 7 days. Deliveroo covers some delivery-caused issues.

  • Cancellations you cause

A fee equal to the commission, under Deliveroo's cancellation policy from 30 September 2025.

Figures are estimates from the numbers you enter. Deliveroo agreements differ by plan, location and volume, and platforms change their fees, so your Deliveroo payout statement is the source of truth. The direct column assumes every order is paid by card at 1.5% + £0.20, before your ordering plan's fee; cash and pay-at-counter orders cost nothing. How much commission does Deliveroo take?

It depends on your contract, and it's charged on the VAT-inclusive price.

Anything we quote other than 35% would be a guess. Ask your account manager for each rate in writing: delivery, own delivery and pickup. Use 35% as the ceiling when you plan.

Commission is charged on the VAT-inclusive price. Deliveroo calculates its fee on GMV, which includes VAT. On a £24 hot meal, a VAT-registered restaurant owes £4 VAT to HMRC and keeps £20. A 35% fee is £8.40, which is 42% of the £20 you keep, before VAT on the fee.

VAT

VAT on Deliveroo commission.

Deliveroo adds VAT at the prevailing rate (20%) to its fee. Because the fee is worked out on a VAT-inclusive price, check your own VAT position carefully. See our guide to VAT on takeaway food.

  • VAT-registered (over the £90,000 threshold): you can usually reclaim it.
  • Not registered: it's a cost. A 35% fee then costs you 42% of the order.

Worked example

300 orders a month at £25, at the published 35% + VAT.

One £25 order on Deliveroo at 35% + VAT, against the same order on your own ordering page
Per orderDeliveroo (35%)Your own ordering page
Commission£8.75£0
VAT on commission£1.75–
Card feeIncluded57.5p (Stripe 1.5% + 20p)
You receive£14.50£24.43
Taken per month£3,150£172.50
Taken per year£37,800£2,070

Offers make it worse. Say you fund 20% off. A £25 order becomes £20. Deliveroo's 35% then applies to the £20, which is £7.00 + £1.40 VAT. You receive £11.60 on food you'd normally sell for £25.

What if your rate is lower?

What each point of commission costs.

These are example rates, not Deliveroo's published rates. Use them to see how much each point matters.

Example Deliveroo commission rates on a £25 order, 300 orders a month, VAT included
Your agreed rateTaken per £25 order (incl. VAT)You receiveTaken per month (300 orders)
20%£6.00£19.00£1,800
25%£7.50£17.50£2,250
30%£9.00£16.00£2,700
35%£10.50£14.50£3,150

Every 5 points of commission costs this restaurant £450 a month with VAT. Move 30% of orders direct (90 a month) at 35%: you save £10.50 − 57.5p = £9.93 per order, which is £893.25 a month (£10,719 a year). On your own page you'd deliver those orders yourself or make them collection, and pay your Menuthere plan: US$17 a month on Lite, billed in US dollars (your bank converts it).

Pay Deliveroo less

How UK restaurants keep more margin on Deliveroo.

Keep Deliveroo for discovery, and stop paying up to 42% on regulars. Create your free ordering page: it's free for up to 50 orders a month. Or book a demo.

  1. 1

    Get every rate in writing

Before you sign: delivery, own delivery and pickup. Ask again each year, since the terms let the rate change.

  2. 2

Use your own riders where you can

Marketplace+ lets own-rider partners set their own delivery radius.

  3. 3

Give regulars a direct way to order

A commission-free online ordering system like Menuthere takes collection, delivery and dine-in orders from one menu, at 0% commission, with card payments through your own Stripe account (Lite and above). Deliveroo's terms say your Deliveroo prices should match your in-store menu, so use perks rather than cheaper direct prices, and check your agreement.

  4. 4

    Use WhatsApp for reorders

Customers send "Hi" and tap Order Now; updates arrive automatically, from "accepted" to "out for delivery" with live tracking. A Pro feature, and Meta charges per message. See WhatsApp ordering.

  5. 5

    Deliver direct orders yourself

Set delivery zones (basic zones on Free, advanced zones on Lite) and track drivers with the riders app (Pro).

  6. 6

    Only run offers you've costed

Commission applies after the discount, so a 20% offer at 35% can leave you under half the menu price.

  7. 7

    Dispute refunds within 7 days

In Hub. After that, the deduction usually sticks.
